The ReStore depends on volunteers to make the store operate efficiently. You can volunteer as much as you’d like, depending on your schedule and availability.
All volunteers must be at least 16 years old and able to do the tasks assigned. Our volunteer positions have opportunities for people from all backgrounds and life experiences.
Basic expectations of all volunteers
- All volunteers must attend a brief training on the ReStore prior to beginning their shifts.
- Due to the scheduling needs of the ReStore, all volunteers must be scheduled by the ReStore staff.
- All volunteers should act in a courteous and professional manner and in accordance with all Habitat for Humanity ReStore policies.
- All volunteers should wear long pants, close toed shoes and appropriate tops. No clothing that promotes alcohol, drugs, violence, gambling or is sexually suggestive is allowed.
- And, most important, volunteers are expected to have fun!
- All volunteers are issued aprons to identify them as ReStore volunteers.
ReStore Operations Positions - Typically, these positions are scheduled in four-hour shifts.
Pick-up Assistant - accompanying our driver in our store truck to pre-determined locations to pick up donated merchandise. This position may involve heavy lifting.
Merchandise preparation - cleaning and pricing our donated merchandise for eventual sales and
displaying donated merchandise on the store shelves. Includes aiding customers in finding what they need.
Cashier - aiding customers with the final purchase of their merchandise.
Committees - Volunteer Management, Recruit/Train Volunteers, PR. Monthly meetings are held.
